Customized, holistic and future-oriented personnel strategies for the individual Sparkassen branches

Personnel Strategy – Future-proof and Cross-association
The Rheinische Sparkassen- und Giroverband (RSGV) and the Sparkassenverband Westfalen-Lippe (SVWL) are forming a joint point of contact for the Sparkassenverbände (savings bank associations) in North Rhine-Westphalia. 14 Sparkasse institutions from both associations have joined the project so far.
In cooperation with the Sparkassenakademie Nordrhein-Westfalen and UNITY, the two regional savings banks associations RSGV and SVWL have developed a tailor-made programme for updating personnel strategies. The aim is to develop individual, holistic and future-oriented HR strategies for the individual Sparkasse institutions that meet the current needs of the organisation and customers and secure long-term competitive advantages.
Since the start of the project in October 2023, 14 Sparkasse institutions have already updated their HR strategy – and more are waiting in the wings. The parallel introduction in different institutions has created a valuable community effect. The participating Sparkasse institutions were able to learn from each other and share their experiences, which led to the continuous improvement and adaptation of the measures. The transfer of knowledge across different organisations and associations not only promoted the quality of the strategy, but also strengthened the network and cooperation between the institutions. Thanks to the project’s progress to date, over 200 specific measures have now been implemented by the Sparkasse institutions.
A key success factor was the close involvement of employees across hierarchical levels and departmental boundaries, which created broad acceptance and identification with the HR strategy. With a permanent UNITY project team at the side of each institution, the HR strategies could be adapted to the specific requirements and circumstances of the individual Sparkasse institutions without abandoning the overarching goals and the standardised framework.
