My name is Thomas Ulrich. I have been working at UNITY for over 25 years, serving our customers worldwide. I manage projects at international corporations and owner-managed, medium-sized companies that are market leaders in their industries. Our customers expect expertise, commitment, and effectiveness from us. This requires me to continuously expand my knowledge and skills, pay daily attention to people, organizations, and cultures, and be highly goal-oriented. Finding the right balance between family, work at UNITY, and my personal interests has become essential to me. Passion is called passion because it sometimes causes suffering. I participate in endurance sports, setting myself annual goals: at least one marathon and at least one other special (Hermanns) run. For example, in 2013, I went to Inverness with some running friends and took part in the Loch Ness Marathon. In 2017, my special experience was participating in the Jerusalem Marathon, together with ten other athletes from our running club (www.lt-elsen-wewer.de). Afterwards, we went on a tour of Palestine together. To make sure I can train regularly, I always have my running shoes in the trunk of my car or with me on every trip. I enjoy the camaraderie of our running club and like to contribute to events and celebrations.
My other passion – after my family and my job – is music. I took regular lessons until I started my studies. However, this was put on hold for many years due to my mechanical engineering studies and the subsequent establishment and expansion of UNITY. My wife and I were delighted to see our children learn to play their instruments. This motivated me to start playing my flute regularly again in 2013: with a music group that is no longer small at family church services in our parish and with the Wewer music band (www.mukawe.de). We perform at shooting festivals, church festivals, and many other events. Our concerts are my particular passion. It's quite an experience to give concerts with 40-50 musicians. We spend about five months preparing for them. We are all very different, but we are united by our passion for music and our community—across generations. That's why I'm very committed to this association.
