In 2017, while I was still studying, I started at UNITY and then joined as a junior consultant in Munich. Until 2021, I worked on many consulting projects before switching to the business division and helping to build up the SME business in southern Germany across all industries. This diversity of topics and customer environments is exactly what I enjoy and I find it incredibly rewarding!
I did this until my wife got a job offer: as a managing director in Australia. We both agreed immediately that this offer was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And since we had been dreaming of working abroad for a long time, it was obviously a great chance.
Since I started as a junior consultant, UNITY has always offered me prospects and a lot of freedom, which still makes me very happy.
So I explained the situation to our board and drew up a concept paper on how it could work with the time difference. The result? UNITY Australia!
It's a real challenge, but also a huge opportunity for me to develop personally. And that in a dual role: as business unit manager for German customers and head of the Australian branch.
What does my everyday life look like? The exotic part is the mix of “German days” and “Australian days.” On German days, I start at noon and basically work a late shift. Here, I have a focused period of 3-4 hours before the workday begins in Germany. As soon as Germany wakes up, I start my calls with customers and project teams. The advantage is that I have the mornings to myself, when I go to the beach, work out, or grab a book and read.
On Australian days, I work according to Australian time and establish business processes on site. Australia has a meeting culture, which means I attend a lot of networking events or meet potential customers in cafés to build contacts.
Moving to Australia was one of the best decisions of my life. UNITY helped me realize my dream and advance my career at the same time. Who would have thought that the junior consultant of 2017 would one day become managing director and pioneer for UNITY in Australia? Not me, but that's what makes life so exciting.
